Nashville is definitely one of my favorite cities to date. If you have been following me for a little bit here you may realize I have quite a few Nashville posts. There is just so much history and fun things to see and do in and around the city. I love to find new things in Nashville with each visit. This past trip to Nashville was no exception. Having already done a lot of the main touristy attractions within Nashville I decided to try something a little something outside of the box and a little something outside of the city. I went on the George Dickel whisky tour this trip and let me say it did not disappoint. It was so good I had to give it its own post.
Planning & Researching
In general and with most things in life I am not such a great planner if I am being completely honest. I truly tend to procrastinate, but when it comes to travel I love to create a fantastic itinerary. I definitely geek all out in creating a nerdy to do list for traveling. A while back one of my good friends told me she created a Pinterest board for each planned trip. Guys! That completely blew my mind and forever changed how I thought about travel and Pinterest. Complete genius. I digress, however. Thanks to a collective Pinterest board I booked the George Dickel distillery tour at Cascade Hollow.
I researched all of the whisky tours in and around Nashville and eventually narrowed it down to two selections: George Dickel or Jack Daniels. Both have a lot of history and of course Jack Daniels is very well known. My selection came down to my perception of the tour experience and wanting to do something different and less mainstream. Thus, George Dickel was the one.
Decisions, Decisions
Have you ever researched something and worried it was the wrong decision? Once I purchased our tour tickets I definitely had this feeling. I thought oh goodness I just purchased an experience solely going off the interwebz and my own personal feelings. oh dear. Jesus take the wheel. Don’t worry. He did! This tour was fantastic and I highly recommend this tour if you are visiting in or around Nashville. The grounds are beautiful and off the beaten path, the history is very interesting and not to mention there is a test tasting at the end of the tour (for those 21+ of course). Children and those under 21 can certainly go on the tour. They just will not be able to partake in the tasting at the end.
I cannot say enough good things about this tour. It was honestly the highlight of this trip to Nashville. I would highly recommend this tour to all. Didn’t think history or science could be interesting? Think again! I guarantee you will walk away with your mind blown and in awe of the beauty of the grounds. If you get anything from this post and have a chance to take the George Dickel Whisky tour, do it! I’ll bet a shot of whisky you won’t regret it.
